Description
I was inspired by the recent appearance of the Aurora Borealis over Cambridgeshire which is not a common sight (I have lived here for more than forty years, and this was a first for me)! I tried to capture the essence of the aurora in this window hanging piece. It is, for the most part, transparent (no backing to the frame, and using transparent fused glass) so it can sit in a window or in front of a light and let the vivid pink/red/purple/green colours of the Northern Lights shine through, with a village scene silhouetted right at the bottom. Some dichroic sprinkles, fused over the top, give a starry look to the piece. Frame size 230mm x 230mm x 32mm; glass size 190mm x 190mm.
