Description
Turned and Carved from a single piece of English Oak
At first glance you may be forgiven to think that this piece had been steam bent into shape well you would be wrong ,using my turning skills I initially turn the piece into its desired form then with the lathe switched off I mark out where I want the twist or twists to be using geometry, then with the lathe locked and used only as a vice to hold the wood I carve out the design ,turning occasionally using an indexing locking system on the lathe until I’ve revealed what I could see within all along .
A time consuming process but one that I enjoy
This piece has been mounted onto an ebonised base
Approx
53cm tall
