Description
Glen Nevis Afternoon
Original lino print
Image size: 200mm x 200mm
This piece is an original multiblock lino print, using three hand-carved lino blocks and printed manually on good quality 420mm x 297mm paper using an antique Victorian hand printing press. It is sold unframed and unmounted, signed by the artist in pencil with edition number and title at the foot of the print.
This print depicts a small copse, through which a burn runs, on the route up to the summit of Ben Nevis in the Scottish highlands. Some scenes require a great deal of design in order to transfer them into a print. This one sprang fully formed from the heather, as a ready-made composition – a diamond of young trees, with a freshet drawing the viewer’s eye phill towards it. A perfect view, amongst the highest mountains.
Please also see the same scene, printed from the same blocks, at different times of day, and in different seasons, in the companion pieces to this print, Glen Nevis Storm, Glen Nevis Evening and Glen Nevis Autumn.
