Description

Inspiration and Making: This Tree Trunk Vessel has been made in response to a Hawthorn Tree in my local woodland. The form was made by combining 2 individually thrown cylinders into a convoluted tall column. The joins invite a textural response, and I apply wild clay slips creating layers of tonal quality. The internal space has been covered with a white stoneware glaze, making it water tight for functional use. The base is inscribed with my handwritten ‘S’ logo. This vessel has been reduction fired to enable the deep rich colours.

Sustainability: Where possible, I once fire my vessels, meaning they have a lower carbon foot-print. I use green energy to run my electric kilns and enjoy pit firing when appropriate. Many of the clays I use are mindfully foraged from local areas and I also up-cycle discarded clays from local schools.

Shipping Policy

In stock items will be posted within 3-5 days of receiving your order. If you request a back order or commission, meaning I need to make the item, I will need 3-4 weeks to satisfy your order. This is due to the clay requiring 1 week to air dry after it is made, potentially 2 kiln firings and glazing time in between. Whilst your order is being created, I will happily email you images of the piece in progress if you send me your email address.

Refund Policy

Every item is packaged with the utmost care because from experience, the delivery method does not have a bearing on the way any parcel is handled (even if it is special delivery). Therefore, I use plenty of sustainable wrap and in some instances (if the item is very fragile), I will also use re-purposed bubble wrap. In addition, I ensure there is ample space between the wrapped item and sides of the box, sometimes using a box within a box. For this reason, I only refund if the item is damaged on arrival and if you email me photographic evidence of the damage to both the box/packaging and item itself.
